Itinerary

Day1:

After landing at the Guwahati airport, you will meet our representative and other Trikonians. Meet and greet each other and head for Shillong by private transport. Have brunch en route. Check in to the hotel and after resting for a while, visit the famous Wards Lake or Pollock’s Lake. The Ward’s Lake is named after Sir William Ward, Chief Commissioner of Assam, who initiated the construction of this lake.

Wards Lake is an artificial lake in the shape of a horseshoe, situated on the Cobberstone path. Surrounded by a beautiful green garden with stunning flowerbeds of myriad colors, this lake has a small wooden bridge in the center. You can enjoy paddle boating in the water. After a tour to this mesmerizing lake, explore the local markets in the evening. Stay overnight at your hotel in Shillong.

 

Day 2:

Day 2 will be an eventful day hence we will start early. Post breakfast, we leave for Mawlynnong. Mawlynnong is the cleanest, eco-friendly village in India and has 100 percent literacy rate. You will find bamboo dustbins in the village!  After relishing lunch, made from organically grown vegetables head for Dawki.

Dawki is a beautiful place situated in the Jaintia hills and just 2 kms away from Bangladesh border. The Umngot River is a special attraction as the river water is so clean that the boats seem as if they are floating in the air. After enjoying a boat ride in the pristine waters of Umngot and clicking some great instagrammable pictures, visit Krang Suri Falls at Jowai.

Krang Suri waterfalls are the most scenic waterfalls in Meghalaya. The shimmering blue waters and picturesque surrounding will just make your day. You need to see it to believe the awe-inspiring beauty of the magnificent Krang Suri waterfalls. Overnight stay in the hotel.
 

Day 3:

After breakfast, get ready to visit Tyrchi Falls, which are located at 8 kms from Jowai. Tyrchi Falls are also called as the jewel of Jowai. There’s a bridge that connects the waterfalls with vast expanse of the paddy fields. Later visit the Thadlaskein Lake, which is a pristine, clear lake, surrounded by lush green foliage. Legends say that this lake was dug by 290 different tribes of Sajjar Niangli Village using the end of bows to escape the wrath of the king of Jaintiapur.

Post lunch; visit Mawphlang sacred groves, which are revered by the Khasi people.  After spending time there, drive to Cherapunjee, the second rainiest place on the earth after Mawsyrum. Cherapunjee receives 12 m of rains every year! This place offers many magical charms to the visitors like the mystical hues of clouds that form in the sky… the towering hills of Khasi are simply breathtaking, as they seem to be touching the sky.

If time permits, we will visit the Garden of Caves. We are sure you might have never seen such place ever! There are innumerable caves and waterfalls in this region. It is said that the Khasi tribe built these caves.

 

Day 4:

After breakfast, we leave for Mawsmai Caves, which are limestones caves and almost 150 m long. A heaven for explorers and nature lovers, this cave is world of adventure in itself. You will find stalactites and stalagmites in different sizes and shapes formed by years of natural abrasion. Cave diving is also an activity which is being performed here by those adventurous.

Later we visit Seven Sister Falls, which are the most dramatic and some of the highest waterfalls in India. These waterfalls are strategically situated side by side on a rugged cliff and symbolize the seven northeastern states. We then visit the Nohkalikhai Falls. It is the tallest plunge waterfall (1115 ft) in India. A drive to this place is magical as you can savor the lush forests enveloped in dense, misty clouds.

After lunch, visit Wei Sawdong Falls, a three-step waterfall. You need to walk a short steep down over the bamboo path to reach these falls. Experience the wilderness of the falls amidst the serenity of the surrounding. Later explore Deinthlen falls, situated some 2 km from Wei Sawdong Falls. After a thrilling day, head to your hotel room in Cherapunjee for a good night sleep.
 

Day 5:

In the morning, post breakfast, drive to Shillong. We visit Don Bosco Museum that offers an insight into the rich indigenous culture of North East India. Don Bosco Museum is more like as institution as it has its own publication, a research wing and has its own calendar of activities as well. Later explore

the cafes in Shillong at lunch time. After relishing some lip-smacking cuisine, at 4pm we visit the Institute of Archery to witness the unique game of archery, which is linked to a lottery system.

The day ends with a sumptuous dinner. Head back to the hotel room for an overnight stay.

 

Day 6:

After breakfast, drive to the airport. En route enjoy the picturesque viewpoint of the majestic Umiam Lake. If time permits, enjoy a ferry over the River Bramhaputra. Drop at the airport for you onward journey back home. We hope, your trip to Meghalaya is fulfilling and enriching.
